Many practitioners recommend waiting until postpartum bleeding has stopped—typically six to eight weeks—and getting medical clearance after complications or C-section. Our therapist will review your history, ensure safety, and adjust herbs or timing to support gentle, effective healing.
Hydrate well, avoid heavy meals or caffeine beforehand, and empty your bladder. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and skip intercourse, douching, or vaginal products for 24 hours. Tell us about medications, allergies, or recent procedures so we can customize your steam.
Custom blends commonly include mugwort, red raspberry leaf, calendula, chamomile, and lavender for soothing, toning, and anti-inflammatory benefits. We tailor formulas for each client; disclose allergies or sensitivities so we can adjust herbs and ensure a safe, comfortable steam.
Frequency depends on goals: weekly sessions may aid intensive postpartum recovery, while monthly or per-cycle sessions help regulate menstruation. Your therapist will recommend a plan based on symptoms, medical history, and response to treatment for optimal, individualized results.
Menstruation is usually fine if you feel comfortable; we adapt steam intensity. Pregnancy requires caution—many providers avoid steaming, especially early pregnancy. Always get medical clearance before a steam if pregnant or have pregnancy-related concerns.
Contraindications include active pelvic infections, open wounds, recent gynecological surgery, uncontrolled diabetes or hypertension, and certain pregnancy complications. We complete a health consultation before treatment and will decline or modify services to prioritize your safety and wellbeing.
